John Slomba passed surrounded by his loving family.

Loving father of Kevin (Nancy) Slomba, Cherylann Mistretta, Michael Slomba, Doreen (John) Valvo, Julie (Don) Sahr, and the late Brian Slomba. Cherished grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Brother of Dennis (Theresa) Slomba. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins friends, and his dear friend Kenny Krupski.

He was a proud and devoted father and grandfather who took great pride in his children, grandchildren and all they did and everything they accomplished. Family was incredibly important to him and some of his happiest memories were spending time with the people he loved.

John had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed playing both the saxophone and clarinet. He was also a member of a polka band, sharing his love of music with others.

An outdoorsman at heart, John enjoyed fishing, hunting and trap shooting. He especially treasured fishing trips to Canada with his father, brother and uncles, as well as trap shooting with his brother-in-law, Peter Gala. He was a founding member of the Family Four Rod and Gun Club.

Many wonderful times were spent at the farm with family, including cousins, aunts, and uncles, where trap shooting, corn roasts, cold beer, laughter and family made for some of his favorite memories. He also enjoyed bowling, which became a true family affair with his entire family and in-laws joining in.

John appreciated the simple things in life. To him, a roast beef on weck and a glass of Schmidt's beer at Bailo's on Bailey Avenue was a night out fit for a king.

He was also a devoted Buffalo Bills fan. Before every game, John would call his children and grandchildren to get their predictions—a tradition that became about much more than football. Those phone calls, along with so many of his traditions and stories, will be deeply missed.

Family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, October 1, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Kazmierczak Funeral Home, 3640 Clinton Street, West Seneca, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM. Friends are invited to attend.

John leaves behind a lifetime of memories filled with family, music, fishing, hunting, bowling, Bills football, laughter and love. He will be remembered most for the pride he had in his family and the joy he found in sharing life with the people who meant the most to him.
