Beloved husband of the late Sandra (Ball) Thompson. Loving father of Jnan Knab, Tracy (late Joe K.) Reilly and Jayme (Dana) Thompson. Cherished Grandpa of Kyle (fiancée Rebecca Fix) Knab, Mariah (Justin) Ayala, Samantha Reilly and Bella Cammarano, and great-grandpa of Ezra, Ember, and Yesenia. Dear brother of the late Donald, Brother-in-law of Barry (Marcia) and Bob (Mary) Ball. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Family will be present to receive friends on Monday, September 14, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Kazmierczak Funeral Home, Inc., 3640 Clinton Street, West Seneca, where a Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, September 15, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, West Seneca.

Jim was a lifelong race car enthusiast and the owner and founder of Thompson Racing #54. He was a FOAR SCORE Hall of Fame, inducted in 2020.
